Time's Fist
Digital documentary portrait consisting of
5 photographs.

Mother nature is far more powerful than man because of a secret weapon: Time. Nothing can stand against it with even the strongest objects being cracked and uprooted by its fist.

First, I determine where I want to shoot. For this project as well as "Capture" I shot images at public parks. When shooting, I am generally drawn to angles created by objects, shadows, and even the composition of the scene itself. Afterwards, I culled around 200 images and found the commonality with manmade objects being ruined by nature. After editing the stronger ones I arranged them in a narrative style then had them printed and framed.

The largest challenge was having to eliminate photographs that had technical issues but were otherwise well shot. For example, the first image (the large shadow) is a substitution of for the original which had depth of field issues. Also, the uprooted pole had white balance issues. I was able to fix this and similar issues in post processing.

This series was printed, at 11x14, placed in matted black frames, then displayed at my Senior exhibition "Circadian".
